The
Department of Physics of the University of Aveiro, the I3N - Institute
for Nanostructures, Nanomodeling and Nanofabrication, and the IT -
Telecommunication Institute, Portugal, are going to organize the 2nd
Workshop on Low-Dimensional Structures: Properties and Applications
(Aveiro, January, 31, February, 1, 2008).
The
main objective of the Workshop is to bring together scientists working
on low-dimensional materials, and thereby to facilitate discussions of
the most recent development in this field. The Workshop will promote
the advance of nano-science and nano-technology and provide a forum for
scientists from different disciplines including physics, chemistry,
biology, materials science and engineering to discuss fabrication
techniques, optical and transport properties as well as applications of
low-dimensional structures. A specific goal of the Workshop is to
stimulate scientific exchange by combining the expertise developed in
the research groups in Portugal and their partner groups abroad.
The Workshop will be organized as a follow-up event of the Workshop on Low-Dimensional Semiconductor Structures: Growth, Properties and Applications in 2006 (http://www2.fis.ua.pt/WLDSS2006/) and the International School on Structural Characterization of Nanostructures in 2007 (http://www2.fis.ua.pt/isscn2007.htm) both held in Aveiro. The events had a tremendous sucess.
The sessions of the 2nd Workshop will be dedicated to the following areas:
